In TCM terminology, similar formulas are associated with supporting Kidney and Liver Yin, representing the nourishing and cooling aspects of the body. These patterns are traditionally linked to sensations of internal depletion, dryness, restlessness or imbalance between Yin and Yang.

The formula consists of six herbs traditionally combined to create a balanced and harmonizing effect.
