As the base tea, this batch uses organic Jin Xuan (金萱) oolong — a cultivar known for its naturally creamy, gently sweet profile. Before scenting, the Jin Xuan is lightly baked, a step that enhances its smooth body and helps it harmonize with the rich, heady sweetness of fresh roses. For this production, the tea comes from long-term Taiwanese partners known for consistent, clean, and traditionally crafted harvests.
The scenting process follows a layered method: alternating rows of warm oolong leaves and freshly picked rose petals. Over time, the tea absorbs the full fragrance of the flowers. Once the roses have released all their aromatic compounds, all petals are removed to ensure clean ageing and prevent any sourness. A small portion of the petals is dried separately and added back solely for decoration, without affecting the taste.
The result is a tea with a delicate balance of body, sweetness and lingering floral presence. The fragrance is clearly identifiable as fresh rose — soft, elegant, and naturally sweet — while the Jin Xuan base provides creaminess and roundness.
