Genmaicha is a traditional harmonious blend of Sencha tea and toasted rice, which tea lovers in Japan have drunk for centuries. Genmaicha Matcha-iri is a unique blend of Sencha tea, toasted rice and Matchat tea. Powdered Matcha lightly covers the Sencha tea leaves and the rice, thus defining the refreshing and sweet taste of the blend. Thanks to the rice, this traditional blend has a full and stimulating taste, which nevertheless does not overwhelm the sweet taste of the green tea, but merely rounds it off. The toasted rice can attract coffee lovers, offering this tea as an alternative. Matcha not only adds a sweet element to the overall infusion, but also influences its colour, which is fine to jade green, as with Gyokuro tea.
With the majority of teas on the market we often encounter low quality Sencha used for the Genmaicha tea blend (typically from the 2nd or 3rd harvest). In our blend, however, very high quality Sencha Ichibancha (1st harvest ) is used, lending the tea an exceptional delicacy.
