This Alishan Jin Xuan Oolong comes from the Alishan region, one of Taiwan’s most renowned high-mountain tea areas. The winter harvest (dong pian) produces a tea of exceptional purity, density, and pronounced sweet aftertaste. The cooler climate and slower leaf growth concentrate aromatic compounds, creating a full and layered character.

The Jin Xuan cultivar (TTES #12), known as “Milk Oolong,” is prized for its naturally creamy texture and delicate buttery-milky notes – without any flavouring. Combined with the high-mountain terroir of Alishan, it results in a tea with an elegant balance between freshness and velvety depth.

Flavor Profile

  • Aroma: floral (orchid, alpine blossoms), light hint of cream

  • Taste: sweet, smooth, with notes of fresh butter, white flowers, and delicate fruit

  • Texture: full, creamy, silky

  • Finish: long, clean, minerally sweet

The leaves are tightly rolled into compact pearls, dark green with a glossy sheen. The liquor is bright golden-yellow with excellent clarity. Thanks to careful processing and selection, this lot was awarded the Finest Grade, confirming its exceptional quality, balance, and aromatic purity.

Brewing Recommendations

  • Gongfu style: 6–7 g / 120 ml, 90–95 °C, short infusions (20–40 s), 6+ infusions

  • Western style: 3 g / 250 ml, 90 °C, 2–3 min
With each subsequent infusion, more creaminess and sweet mountain aftertaste unfold.

A representative winter oolong for lovers of purity, depth, and the cultivated elegance of Taiwanese high-mountain teas.
