This 100 g pressed tea cake made from the Jin Xuan 金萱 (TTES #12) cultivar was produced in 2006 and has since spent two decades naturally aging in a stable, controlled environment. Over the years, the originally fresh, milky-aromatic oolong has gradually transformed into a fully matured tea with a calm, rounded character. Its flavour has changed significantly: the bright creamy notes typical of young Jin Xuan have given way to deeper layers of honeyed wood, grain-like sweetness and gentle caramel. The liquor is clean, amber-gold and remarkably harmonious. More

In taste, the tea is soft, warm and stable, without bitterness or sharp edges. A light cinnamon-like spiciness appears in the finish, followed by a long, pleasant sweetness that lingers on the palate long after drinking. Thanks to its pressed form, the tea has aged more slowly and evenly, allowing it to retain a clean profile with no musty or over-roasted notes. Aged Jin Xuan is relatively rare on the market, as this cultivar is usually sold in its young, aromatic form, and only few producers set it aside for long-term maturation.

Preparation is simple: short infusions at 90–95 °C gradually reveal the tea’s layers and provide many stable steeps. Overall, this is a calm, balanced and elegant archival oolong, appreciated both by lovers of Taiwanese vintage teas and by those who seek a gentle, non-intrusive tea for quiet evening moments.
