Zuo Jin Pian – Liver and Stomach Harmony (左金片)

Zuo Jin Pian is a classical herbal formula of Traditional Chinese Medicine derived from the historical prescription Zuo Jin Wan. This traditional formula is associated in Chinese medicine with harmonizing the relationship between the Liver and Stomach and balancing patterns described as excessive Liver heat affecting the Stomach.

According to the terminology of Traditional Chinese Medicine, disharmony between the Liver and Stomach may be associated with sensations such as pressure in the upper abdomen, stomach acidity, bitterness in the mouth or a feeling of heat in the digestive area. Herbal formulas of this type are therefore traditionally composed to support digestive harmony, calm excess heat and promote the natural movement of Qi.

The classical formula contains two herbs traditionally used in Chinese herbal medicine: Huang Lian (Rhizoma Coptidis – Coptis rhizome) and Wu Zhu Yu (Fructus Evodiae – Evodia fruit). In traditional formulations these herbs are typically combined in a ratio of approximately 6 : 1 to support the harmony of the Liver and Stomach and balance heat in the digestive system.

The tablet form provides a convenient modern way to use this classical herbal formula without the need to prepare traditional herbal decoctions.
