053 WEN JING WAN – The Surge of Hidden Cold

Herbal formula based on Traditional Chinese Medicine

This classical herbal formula is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is traditionally associated with harmonizing cold in the Chong Mai and Ren Mai and supporting the regular movement of Blood.

In TCM terminology, similar formulas are used in situations described as deficiency cold combined with Blood stagnation, which may be traditionally associated with sensations of cold in the lower abdomen, irregular cycles, long-term depletion, or insufficient Blood nourishment.

The formula contains a combination of herbs traditionally used in Chinese medicine, described in classical texts as supporting warming, Blood nourishment, and harmonization of the menstrual rhythm.

According to European Union legislation, specific health effects cannot be claimed for this type of product.

Characteristics according to TCM

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this formula is primarily associated with:

  • nourishing Blood and supporting its circulation
  • dispersing Blood stagnation
  • warming the uterine area and menstrual function
  • dispersing cold in the lower burner

Traditional composition and formula principle

This formula is composed as a harmonizing blend combining warming, nourishment, and movement:

  • Wu Zhu Yu (吴茱萸) and Gui Zhi (桂枝) warm and disperse cold
  • Dang Gui (当归), Chuan Xiong (川芎), Bai Shao (白芍), and Shu Di Huang (熟地黄) nourish and regulate Blood
  • Mai Men Dong (麦门冬) supports Yin and moistens dryness
  • Mu Dan Pi (牡丹皮) harmonizes Blood and supports its natural movement
  • Ren Shen (人参), Gan Cao (甘草), Sheng Jiang (生姜), and Ban Xia (半夏) support Qi and harmonize the middle burner

The formula combines warming and nourishing components because, in traditional understanding, it is necessary to both remove cold and replenish weakened Blood.

In current formulations, some ingredients may be adjusted in accordance with EU legislation.

Traditional use

In TCM terminology, this formula is used in situations described as deficiency cold in the Chong Mai and Ren Mai with Blood stagnation.

These patterns may be traditionally associated with sensations of:

  • cold and pressure in the lower abdomen
  • irregular menstrual rhythm
  • mild but persistent discomfort in the lower body
  • reduced vitality and weakened nourishment

These concepts are derived from the diagnostic system of TCM and do not represent modern medical diagnoses.

Not suitable in cases described in TCM as pure Yin deficiency without the presence of cold or Blood stagnation due to excess.

Persistent or unclear symptoms should always be evaluated by a qualified healthcare professional.
