Description and Traditional Use

This traditional herbal formula is based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). It is traditionally used to support the normal function of the respiratory system, especially in cases of a feeling of excess phlegm and cough. According to TCM concepts, the formula helps calm the so-called "rebellious Lung Qi", supports the natural flow of energy (Qi), and promotes the balance between the Lung and Spleen functions.

Traditionally recommended for internal accumulation of "Heat and Tan" (phlegm-heat), which may be associated with a sensation of chest fullness, phlegm production, or discomfort in the chest and rib area.

This formula was first recorded in the classic TCM text Yi Fang Kao (1584) by Dr. Wu Kun. The formula was developed to help maintain the balance between the Spleen’s function in transforming fluids and the Lung’s dispersing and descending function—concepts fundamental in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
