Li Dan Pian – Coloca Form (利胆片)
Li Dan Pian is a traditional herbal formula based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In this medical tradition, the formula is associated with supporting the harmony of the Liver and Gallbladder and balancing conditions traditionally described as damp-heat (shi re 湿热) in the liver–gallbladder system.
According to TCM terminology, such patterns may be associated with sensations of pressure or discomfort in the right upper abdomen, digestive imbalance related to fatty foods, or stagnation of Qi in the liver and gallbladder area. Herbal formulas of this type are therefore traditionally used to support the natural flow of bile, digestive harmony, and the balance of the liver–gallbladder system.
Within the theoretical framework of Chinese medicine, the Liver and Gallbladder belong to the Wood element and are associated with the smooth movement of vital energy Qi. When dampness and heat accumulate in this system, the natural flow of Qi may be disturbed according to traditional descriptions. Herbal formulas such as Li Dan Pian are therefore traditionally composed to help disperse heat, transform dampness, and harmonize the functions of the Liver and Gallbladder.
The formula includes herbs commonly used in Chinese herbal medicine such as Jin Qian Cao (Lysimachia christinae), Yin Chen (Artemisia capillaris), Huang Qin (Scutellaria baicalensis), Da Huang (Rheum palmatum) and Yu Jin (Curcuma aromatica). In traditional herbal practice these ingredients are combined to support balance within the liver–gallbladder system and the natural movement of Qi.
The tablet form offers a convenient modern way to use this traditional herbal recipe without the need to prepare herbal decoctions.
