Houji means roasted and Cha means tea. Japanese Houjicha roast tea is used for a whole range of drinks and dishes, and its powdered form has been created precisely for this application. Powdered Houjicha is similar in character to Matcha powedered tea, but unlike Matcha, Houjicha is used only in cuisine and is not whipped in order to obtain pure tea. Thanks to roasting, Houjicha contains only a small amount of caffeine, which is appreciated by the great majority of lovers of its roast flavour. In addition, Houjicha contains a large quantity of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Our powdered Houjicha was created with regard to use in cooking and baking, and as a result can tolerate high temperatures without burning. The powder is very fine and easy to mix with other ingredients. Powdered Houjicha is also excellent for the preparation of flavoured tea drinks with an attractive roasted flavour.
Classic Houjicha tea is prepared from roasted tea leaves and can be found in our catalogue as a separate product.
