| Luk On (Liu An) teas originate from the district of the same name in the Chinese province of An Hui. These are fully to several times oxidised teas which could be compared to Pu-erh teas, nevertheless the original tea plant for both types is different. Like Pu-erh, Luk On is left after harvesting, oxidisation and other parts of the production process to age, and in the same manner it applies that the older the tea, in general the better its quality, the higher its price and the greater its medicinal properties. Its primary health effects are support of digestion, cleaning of the digestive system and reducing the level of cholesterol in blood. This tea is popular mainly in Hong Kong and the surrounding region, where it is sought out primarily by older people. With regard to the above mentioned effects it is suitable for drinking regularly after meals. |
